Depois de 10 anos o festival Rock in Rio irá retornar para sua cidade de origem, o Rio de Janeiro. Em entrevista ao programa “Fantástico”, da TV Globo”, neste domingo (15), o organizador do festival, Roberto Medina, confirmou que o evento acontecerá a partir do dia 23 de setembro de 2011.
Medina disse ainda que gostaria que o Rock in Rio 2011 tivesse shows de Shakira e Lady Gaga. O festival vai ser realizado em um parque, o Parque Olímpico Cidade do Rock, que será construído na Zona Oeste da cidade e terá capacidade para receber até 150 mil pessoas.
O site do festival já está no ar, www.rockinrio.com.br. Nele consta que o Rock in Rio 2011 acontecerá entre os dias 23 e 30 de setembro; e 1 e 2 de outubro.
A intenção de Medina é realizar o Rock in Rio de dois em dois anos na Cidade Maravilhosa. Artistas como Marcelo D2, Jota Quest, Sandra de Sá e Capital Inicial já participaram da gravação do novo jingle do festival. Veja o vídeo:
O Rock in Rio foi realizado no Brasil em 1985, 1991 e 2001.
