Em seu Twitter, Sandy questionou a atenção constante dada ao Haiti pelo Brasil – após um terremoto ter assolado o país caribenho – e entrou em uma polêmica com seus seguidores, nesta quinta-feira (14). A cantora ressaltou que os brasileiros também deveriam se preocupar com a situção das pessoas que sofrem com as catástrofes em nosso País.
“Tudo bem que a quantidade de vítimas foi bem maior no Haiti do que a de vítimas de catástrofes aqui no Brasil; mas tenho ouvido muito mais notícias de gente se mobilizando para ajudar o Haiti do que eu vi acontecer por aqui. Será que isso é justificável?”, escreveu a cantora. “Não tô querendo desmerecer a tragédia que ocorreu por lá, mas…”, continuou.
Depois de receber diversas mensagens de pessoas questionando esta declaração, Sandy escreveu: “aos ignorantes de plantão: eu não disse que não deveria ajudar, muito pelo contrário; só acho que o Brasil merece mais atenção do que tem tido”. Logo depois, Sandy colocou links para as pessoas ajudarem o Haiti e aos desabrigados do Rio Grande do Sul.
